Bio:

Duncan was born in a small fishing villiage near the grand city of Tabolport. He always believed in helping the poor and the downtrodden. This eventually led him to the Church of Uhman, Cult of the Shepherd. After finishing some of his studies in Tabolport, he quickly discerned the corruption in the Church. He eventually helped free a few people from the Church prisons and was on the run for the longest of times.

Duncan was a rather happy fellow that felt an uplifting message is the one that would be most followed. At times, he was known to preach a bit too much from the tavern floor of Targu’s (“I’m here to Bless your Tavern!”), but his heart was always in the right place — although his words may have been a bit off (“Sooo, what was your crime?”). It was through visions from Saint Christopher that Duncan truly took steps to confront the evils done in the name of the Church.

Eventually, Duncan was struck blind during a procedure to help free him of the influence of an evil sword (never pick up a magical sword in Jim’s campaign). Although most would have buckled under such a burden, Duncan took the handicap in stride and in a jolly manner. He found that he could help others help themselves through his handicap. In blindness, he could see clearly into the souls of others.

Eventually, Duncan sacrificed himself to thwart a great evil. But even that could not keep the jolly priest down. He returned from beyond the veil as Brother Bonafetto and helped our hero’s thwart yet another evil. Unfortunately, this lead to the sacrifice of Aria’s life. This pained Duncan greatly, as he would have gladly given up his life once again to help his friends. Unfortunately, he was not permitted to sacrifice is own, but was at least allowed to show Aria the good it would perform and afterlife that would follow.

Duncan was the first character that I ever ran with Big Dog and one of my personal all-time favorites. He got more out of the spell Create Water than I believe anyone had, past or present. Thinking of Duncan is like thinking of an old friend. In the next fantasy campaign I play in, I will likely run a cleric just to try to recapture the magic of that character (I hope that will be one time that a repeat will generate the same sort of magic)
